 a word about a bucketDec 03, 2009

item was described well.... its a mini ice bucket, holding enough ice for a couple of drinks and it has a pair of tongs in the lid, which is handy and functional. Its easy to keep clean and is nice looking with its chrome-like finish. This item is worth the money I paid, even though I wish I'd bought a bigger one.

I saw one of these at a 5 star hotel room in China and I had to have one. Bucket's made in Japan and is excellent quality. It's smaller then a typical plastic ice bucket you would find in a US hotel room. It's designed to hold only ice, not an bucket which you could put something in such as a bottle of wine. I shopped locally for a similar ice bucket before I ordered this one and could not find one as nice.

My guests always ask me where I got this ice bucket as it looks really nice, and they want one of their own. However they are a little taken back once they hear that I paid $30 for it. But it looks so good sitting next to my shiny shaker and strainer.
Yes, it is a little small. If you have a party with 4-5 people, it is a perfect size since it doesn't take too much table space. But when you have 10+ people, I have to fill up this bucket every hour, which can be a pain. I probably need to get a big one for big parties, and use this for smaller party.
As for insulation, this thing works really well. Sometimes I leave the bucket filled with ice overnight after the party, and next morning more than half are still in ice cubes. There seems to be a cheaper model with less insulation (and half the price).
I also like that the ice tongs neatly tucks into the lid (lid can be taken apart for easy washing as well).

The description for this item says 44 ounces or 1 liter. My math says 44 ounces is 1.3 liter. This is definately a 1 liter ice bucket, good quality, nice little ice thongs but too small for any imaginable purpose that I can come up with.
