5Great Machine - Actually works well! - Fun to WatchFeb 04, 2008
By Christopher Carlsson "Spiritual Advisor"
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1ZOFM73EGT3TR We followed the simple directions, filled with ice and our martini ingredients. Someone has a sense of humor as when you push the on/off button to turn the machine on the green olive on the martini graphic (just above the switch) lights up. It works well in either shaken or stirred mode.Obviously this was the shaken mode on the video. We found it to be a wonderful and amusing device. Unlike some earlier incarnations and attempts at a automatic cocktail shaker this one actually works well. The ultimate toy for the lazy bartender. While we strongly suggest Gary Regan's Cocktails in the Country to learn proper manual, old fashioned (and fun) bartending, this is a great machine for those who can't or don't want to shake or stir their cocktails themselves.Would suggest the following books to go with it:diffordsguide to Cocktails 7 (Diffords Guide) (Diffords Guide)A marvelous, encyclopedic cocktail book ,and/or How's Your Drink?: Cocktails, Culture, and the Art of Drinking Wellanother great cocktail book with history and stories for each drink (something to read while the machine is running) and/orImbibe!: From Absinthe Cocktail to Whiskey Smash, a Salute in Stories and Drinks to "Professor" Jerry Thomas, Pioneer of the American Bar Featuring the Originawhich is a fascinating biography of the world famous "Professor" Jerry Thomas the bartender and bon vivant who published the first cocktail book with recipes updated from the original.

3It doesn't make a cold enough martini for my tastes...Jul 19, 2008
By Brad Willis
I'll make a long story short. I like a cold martini that's very well shaken so that there are ice crystals on the top of the drink. This machine is not capable of doing that.

Don't get me wrong, it's a cute thing and seems to be reasonably well made. If you like your martinis cool to somewhat cold, it will probably be a good choice for you. However, I like my martinis very cold and it's not up to the task of making them the way that I like them, even after multiple cycles back-to-back.

I also tried to make a Lemon Drop Martini using a powdered mix. 2 cycles later, it did not shake hard enough to blend the mix properly. Drinks poured from the top of the shaker tasted mostly of water and vodka where the bottom was very sweet due to the largely undissolved mix.

So...It's just fine for those who like cool to somewhat cold martinis, but if you like them very cold like I do, it's probably not a good choice. And if you're going to be using powdered mixes, the shaking may not be strong enough to mix your drink properly.

5Husband's new found love of "martini"Apr 27, 2008
By Anthony's wife
I bought this shaker for my husband's birthday. Was not sure what it would be like but since he does enjoy martinis now and again thought it would be a neat gift. It certainly was a hit with him. He said it made a perfect martini. We followed the directions to a tee, and now he enjoys several different kinds of martinis mixed by the shaker. It can also be used for other mixed drinks, without the mess of shaking yourself. Recommend this product to all.

1DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$$ on THIS!!!!!!!Feb 16, 2010
By J. Williamson "Juheenuna"
I didn't realize I could upload a video review. I will try to create one when I return home.

I received this as a Christmas gift from my mother-in-law less than two months ago. The concept is neat. I drink 2 or 3 martinis a week at home, and often try to experiment with different mix elements. So, when I got this as a gift, I was very happy.

On my first try, I would say, it did a mediocre job... Not too fantastic, but not too disappointing. It made awful loud noise, and had to hold its body down with two hands. Although it was not too fantastic, I thought it still was a neat concept, and I would be using it every now and then.

Then, I wanted to wash the shaker, and realized that the top (the strainer top) and the bottom are completely stuck. I mean, they were stuck as if they were never two parts. I had to wait for a while until the ice is melt so I could at least drain the content. It's been 3 weeks since it happened, and it's still stuck. The machine shakes the drink by pounding on it so it was not too surprising that the lid could get stuck. So, I tried to heat the bottom part while pouring cold water over the top part. It did not work. I tried to use my other shaker in the machine, and it would not fit right so it made even louder noise.

I contacted the Waring Products customer service to see if I can get the shaker part replaced. They responded in a week, asking for my address, then completely gone incommunicado. After three or four follow-up e-mails asking for the status, they sent me the EXACT SAME e-mail asking for my address. Then, (yes, you guessed it!) they disappeared. Completely gone nuclear-silent. It's been over three weeks since I first contacted them, and I am very disappointed. I wish I had used it at least two or three times before this happened.

So, I figured that the best I could do for others is to leave this feedback so that anybody who was considering this product would know the disappointment that they may experience.

I am very disappointed, and will stay away from any products from Waring Products (I think they are also related to ConAir) in the future, since the customer service is not reliable at all.

What a waste of $$, time, and efforts.

1Completely disappointingNov 20, 2009
By Sacramento consumer
I like my whiskey sour shaken and straight up. This machine doesn't even make the ice move. It is so lame I will never buy another Waring product - I feel ripped off.
