Worked great, for a while...Jan 26, 2010 I've had this shaker for a couple of years, and I loved it the entire time; until now. As with any other Boston style shaker, it stays together when you want and comes apart easily when you want, which I prefer over a classic shaker. However, it is not as robust as some other shakers I have used. After steady (approximately once or twice per week) usage for the past 2-3 years, the glass cracked down the side and split out from the glass half, causing a nice cut as I was shaking. So...it worked great for a while, but when it failed, ouch!
Either that or don't mix with ice and enjoy your beverages at room temperature! :)
Old one broke and I'm back for anotherJul 25, 2009 I inherited one of these from a friend and loved it. I used it fairly regularly and put it in the dishwasher. It was at least 5 years old, probably more, though I don't know when he originally purchased. The lettering and lines held up perfectly. Glass just started to crack, starting at the top and moving down the sides. I can't complain too much, it's lasted a while through some rough use. I'm buying another... maybe no dishwasher this time. Or perhaps taking the silicone gasket off the top before it goes in the dishwasher would decrease the expansion/contraction stresses from the heat in the dishwasher?
Exactly what I wantedJul 11, 2009 This was exactly what I was looking for. I especially wanted something that can measure half-ounces as well as ounces. I'm not taking chances with the dishwasher and I've just been handwashing the measuring glass.

Not dishwasher-safeJun 08, 2009 I purchased this elsewhere a year ago and after a few months of use, I opened the dishwasher one day to find this in the top rack with the bottom of the glass cracked about 1 inch up around the entire circumference of the glass. I like the rubber gasket on this but I was not about to spend almost $20 just to replace the broken glass when I can get a regular highball glass that fits the rubber gasket and use that as a replacement. Since I already put out the money once, I cannot see replacing the broken part with a most likely equally defective item. Also, the drink recipes fade after a while and it then looks shabby and worn. I did not like the looks of it but this rubber gasket method does make a nice seal so the shaker does not leak when you shake your cocktails.
Perfect ShakerJun 05, 2009 Works great! If you still have an all metal shaker trash it and get this one.
