4Great Mugs...but...Apr 30, 2008
By Karen V.
I use these mugs to serve frosty drinks in my cafe. My customers love them. They've also held up well from the rigors of hand washing and cafe use. Will certainly buy them again as needed. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the mugs have a ridge down the middle of the handle that runs from the rim of the glass all the way to the rim on the other side. It really needs to be sanded down. Other than that, the mugs are great.

4Nice heavy mugs at a great priceDec 15, 2009
By T. ROBERTSON
I really like these mugs. I'm a home brewer and specifically got these to keep in the freezer for when I want a cold brew. They've worked excellent for this purpose and have held up well. Being clinked around when hand washing or being shoved in the freezer hasn't been a problem and they make for a very sturdy and solid mug.

They all have blemishes here or there in the glass. Nothing structural or that would be a problem but just minor stuff. I mention it only for those looking for "perfect" mugs. I think they add character to the glasses though so don't mind them.

The only minor complaint is the seam from manufacturing is very pronounced. It runs through the handle, across the bottom then up the other side. The way most people hold a mug it won't be hitting their lips though so isn't a huge issue.

5Great MugsJul 14, 2008
By In the AmaZone...
These are good heavy mugs that are great in the freezer for beer or filled with lots of ice for other drinks. What I like the most are that they 20 oz. and not 16, which means that they will hold more that two or three ice cubes with a full can of soda, or other 12 oz beverage. They are heavy enough to stay cold longer out of the freezer, and evenly weighted so they are not easily knocked over. At under $20 for a set of six, you can't go wrong. They arrived well packaged and in great shape. One tip: use a little "Goo Gone" or citrus oil to easily remove the UPC stickers off the bottom of each mug before washing for the first time.

5Not 20 Pyrex ounces, but...Mar 16, 2010
By SLP
The mugs are fine. Heavy, nicely made and I don't care about a ridge in the handle. In fact, all my mugs have ridges I never noticed until I read reviews mentioning they're not ideal. However, by my Pyrex measuring cup, these hold just over 16 oz and that is filled to the brim. By that measure, they are not: "6 oversized beer mugs with generous 20-ounce capacity." But who needs to drink that much anyway? They are 6 very nice mugs, with more than adequate capacity, an a great "no-slip" ridge on the inside of the handle. I like them and would buy more if I need them.

5Keeps Drinks Cool LongerAug 03, 2011
By G33kman
The advantages of these mugs seem to be: keeping drinks cold longer due to thicker glass, less condensation dripping off the sides, heavier weight keeps them from tipping, the traditional beer look that other cups cannot provide, and that they are rated for use in the freezer. A thinner glass doesn't have the ability to retain temperature, nor would I trust it to hold up to cracking after repeated trips to the freezer.

This mug has a heavy weight and solid feel. The ridge along the handle is indeed there as others have pointed out, but it's not a sharp or pronounce edge like I've seen in other cheaply made glass and plastic cups. A non-issue for me. My main need for buying a mug is to keep my drink cool longer, and not have to dilute it with ice cubes to do it.

So I setup a test in my kitchen. This frozen mug against a plain 'ol, room-temp, 16oz tall glass cup. Each got 12oz of 43F water in 78F ambient temperature. The mug water dipped lower to 38F before returning to the starting temp 25 minutes later. The normal cup rose steadily to 54F by then. Within an hour the cup hit 62F, and the mug was 55F. Anything over 60F I wouldn't consider "cold".

Basically this mug, if frozen beforehand, will give you an extra 25-30 minutes worth of use before your drink is no worse off than it was before. Not bad. I'm sure a serious, double-walled mug would fair a bit better, but this is a nice upgrade. I'm pleased overall.
