It seems to stand less sturdy than I would like it to and I'm giving it as a gift, so the box that is shown to come with it would have been nice if it had come with it.

I received this about two weeks ago with the intent to give it to some friends as a Christmas present. I was exited to posses a copy of the infamous Das Boot and have some good old beer swilling fun with it.
My first impression on picking the thing out of the box was that it felt cheaper than the $25 price tag. Still, it was glass and I figured it was a decent quality for the sort of novelty item it is. I decided to forgive because it was still possible to drink beer out of the thing and it looked pretty darn impressive. I filled it up with water both to clean it and get an idea of the volume (how much is 2 Liters of beer, REALLY) and much to my dismay the seam on the toe started spurting water!
Now that I've discovered I can't drink form it, I am upset with my purchase.
It's my opinion that Das Boot wasn't damaged in shipping but that the seam resulting from machine press is a weak spot which the pressure of normal use is too much for. I might give the benefit of the doubt if my attempts to contact the seller had met with any response, but so far nothing.
EDIT: The seller finally contacted me, and apologized by way of a free replacement boot. My assessment of its quality remains largely unchanged, but since this one isn't chipped I actually got to drink out of it. The final verdict is that this thing will NOT survive much use. A nice novelty, yes but not much else.

The boot is fantastic, really good quality and looks great. We have a German American club and everyone is amazed at the wonderful boot. The price was really a great deal.

So the boot came in today and it wasnt what I expected. I ordered this boot because it had a nice smooth surface, pointy toes (as opposed to the other rounded toed boots), and it had a "das boot" emblem on it. Just when I ordered it, the picture changed to the current one. But the boot I recieved was neither of those. It was the rounded toed boot with no emblem and an indent going around the radius of the top of the boot. I know those are for lanyards. If you're going to advertise a boot, please ship the correct product or at least stick to the right picture. oh by the way, the lanyard was not included. I was a bit disapointed that I did not get the boot I ordered but it's a boot nonetheless. I filled it with water the second I got it and tried to pour it out to see if it would 'explode in your face' like it did in the movie. It sure does and that made me give it an extra star.
